The Promise of Peace
Peace. It’s something we all crave but often struggle to find. The good news is that peace isn’t just a feeling or a fleeting moment—it’s a promise given by Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 declares that His name is Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. This isn’t a peace the world gives; it’s deeper, richer, and everlasting.
Peace is promised, but accessing this peace requires something from us. As followers of Jesus, we’re called to lean into His ways, making daily Kingdom disciplines a part of our lives.
>>> The disciplines you keep will often determine the peace you feel. <<<
In our face-paced Western culture, peace is not the norm. We need to slow down and learn how to access the peace Jesus promises. When Jesus appeared to His disciples in John 20:19-22, He didn’t just greet them—He imparted peace. That same peace is available to us today. In the same way God gave the Israelites the Promised Land, yet required them to take the land one step at a time—we must cultivate the peace He promised us.
Here’s how we as followers of Jesus can access His peace:
As we embrace these practices, peace becomes more than a concept; it becomes a reality. Imagine the transformation if we consistently accessed this peace—not only in our own lives but in how we impact others.

In the same way God gave the Israelites the Promised Land, yet required them to take the land one step at a time—we must cultivate the peace He promised us.
Here’s how we as followers of Jesus can access His peace:
- Faith in Jesus: Trusting in Jesus opens the door to true peace with God, reconciling us to Him.
“Since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1). - Yielding to the Holy Spirit: The Spirit of God replaces worry with assurance and guides us into peace-filled living.
“The mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace” (Romans 8:6). - Reading God’s Word: Meditating on Scripture reminds us of who God is and His promises for us.
“Do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart… and bring you peace” (Proverbs 3:1-2). - Spending time in Prayer: Bringing our burdens to God in prayer exchanges our anxiety for His comfort.
“The peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds” (Philippians 4:6-7). - Practicing Gratitude: A thankful heart shifts our focus from problems to God’s faithfulness.
“With thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God… will guard your hearts” (Philippians 4:6-7). - Lifestyle of Worship: Praising God draws us into His presence where peace overcomes fear.
“He gives us a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair” (Isaiah 61:3). - Embracing Community: Leaning into godly relationships strengthens us and reinforces peace.
“Let us not give up meeting together… but encourage one another” (Hebrews 10:24-25).
As we embrace these practices, peace becomes more than a concept; it becomes a reality. Imagine the transformation if we consistently accessed this peace—not only in our own lives but in how we impact others.
