Why Dreamer’s Church Austin Supports Global Missions
The local church is central to God’s plan, not only for Austin, Texas but for every nation around the world. Here at Dreamer’s Church Austin, we are passionate about seeing our city transformed by the love of Jesus, and we believe that same passion extends beyond our borders.
God has placed a global mandate on the church to make disciples of all nations, and part of fulfilling that call is supporting missionaries like Luke and Bethany Deese, who are serving local churches and transforming lives in Cambodia. Along with them, we also support Seth and Dianna in (undisclosed due to persecution threats) region.
Luke and Bethany have spent years in Cambodia, where they’ve dedicated themselves to church planting, building the local churches, and worship ministry. Their work has not only brought the gospel to some of the most unreached areas but has also revitalized worship across hundreds of Cambodian churches. Supporting missionaries isn’t just a good thing—it’s a Kingdom thing.
1. The Importance of the Local Church in Global Missions
In the Book of Acts, we see that the early church was not content to remain in Jerusalem. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, they went from city to city, planting local churches that became hubs for evangelism, discipleship, and community transformation. From Antioch to Ephesus to Rome, the early believers understood that the local church was God’s chosen vessel to reach the nations.
At Dreamer’s Church Austin, we are committed to this same mission. The local church is vital to God’s Kingdom because it is the primary place where believers are discipled, equipped, and sent out to be the hands and feet of Jesus in their communities. In Austin, we strive to be that light for our city. In Cambodia, and other regions of the world we're doing the same—planting local churches that can transform entire communities with the power of the gospel.
Supporting their mission is not just about sending financial help; it’s about partnering in the global mission that God has called us to. Missionary work is an extension of the same calling we live out in Austin—to see lives changed, disciples made, and communities impacted by the love of Jesus.
2. Transforming Worship Across Cambodia
Focusing on Cambodia specifically, one of the most powerful aspects of Luke and Bethany’s ministry has been their influence on worship across Cambodia. Worship is an essential part of the church because it brings us into the presence of God and aligns our hearts with His. When worship is vibrant and full of the Spirit, it changes the atmosphere and draws people closer to Jesus.
In Cambodia, Luke and Bethany have been instrumental in bringing this kind of worship to hundreds of churches. They’ve trained worship leaders, written new songs, and helped local believers cultivate a deeper heart of worship. Their ministry has shifted the culture of worship in Cambodia, bringing a fresh wave of passion and authenticity that is leading people into the presence of God.
We at Dreamer’s Church understand the power of worship. Every Sunday, we gather to lift up the name of Jesus, and we know the life-changing power that comes from encountering God through worship. By supporting Luke and Bethany, we are sowing into the same kind of transformation for the people of Cambodia. Worship is not just music—it’s a weapon of spiritual warfare, and they are equipping the Cambodian church with the tools they need to advance the Kingdom of God.
3. Multiplying Local Churches in Cambodia and Other Regions of the World
Cambodia is a nation with deep spiritual needs. Decades of hardship, poverty, and trauma from its history have left many communities in need of hope and restoration. The local church is God’s answer to that need. Just as in Austin, the local church in Cambodia is part of the heartbeat of God’s mission. It’s where people find hope, healing, and community.
Luke and Bethany’s church planting efforts are strategically designed to multiply the number of healthy, Spirit-filled churches across Cambodia. Their vision is not just to plant one church, but to impact 100's of local churches in Cambodia that will continue to grow and impact future generations. This kind of multiplication is exactly what we see modeled in the Book of Acts—Paul and the apostles didn’t just plant individual churches, they raised up leaders who could plant more churches, creating an unstoppable movement of God’s Kingdom.
4. The Power of Partnership
One of the most exciting things about partnering with missionaries like Seth & Dianna, Luke & Bethany, and more to come is that it’s an opportunity for us, as a local church, to extend our reach globally. The Bible is clear that we are one body, united under Christ. What happens in Cambodia matters to us here in Austin because we are all part of the same Kingdom.
In Philippians 4:15-16, Paul thanks the Philippian church for their support of his missionary journeys, saying, “Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only; for even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent me aid more than once when I was in need.”
Just as the Philippians partnered with Paul to advance the gospel, we have the privilege of partnering with multiple missionaries. Our support, both in prayer and financial giving, helps them continue the incredible work God has called them to. It’s a tangible way for us to be part of what God is doing in Cambodia.
5. A Shared Vision for the Future
Dreamer’s Church Austin is all about building a thriving local church that inspires people to seek first the Kingdom of God. Supporting missions isn’t just about helping them accomplish their mission—it’s about living out the mission that God has given us! When we invest in church planting, worship renewal, and discipleship efforts in other countries, we’re participating in the global move of God’s Spirit, and we’re fulfilling our own mandate to be a church that impacts the world.
Conclusion
