Stretch Out
Stretch Out – Living With Legacy
There’s a phrase that’s been stirring in my heart lately, “Stretch Out.” It comes from Isaiah 54:2, where God says,
This isn’t just a verse about space, it’s about mindset. God is calling us to stretch out our faith, our generosity, and our vision. He’s calling Dreamer’s Church to think beyond the moment and live with a Legacy Mindset.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO LIVE WITH LEGACY?
Legacy is more than what you leave behind, it’s what you deposit every day in the hearts of people through love and faithfulness. It’s investing today in things that will outlast our lives, especially through giving to expand God’s Kingdom and helping others come to faith and be discipled.
Jesus said it like this in Matthew 6:19–20:
In other words, the greatest impact you’ll ever make isn’t measured in possessions, it’s measured in people.
That’s legacy. Faithfulness today builds the foundation for what God wants to do tomorrow.
At Dreamer’s Church, we see legacy lived out in so many ways:
This is what it means to stretch out, to live not just for comfort, but for Kingdom contribution.
THE LEGACY MINDSET
A Legacy Mindset is when your heart, mind, and habits align toward eternal purpose. It’s the unseen force that shapes your decisions today for the sake of tomorrow.
Here’s the truth:
Colossians 3:2 says, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
That’s how you move from being reactive to being revelational. Too often, we’re asking God to do what He’s already asked us to do—while trying to do what only He can do. A legacy mindset knows the difference.
God won’t change your mind for you, but He’ll empower you to change it!
GENEROSITY: THE ENGINE OF LEGACY
If we’re going to stretch out, we need a shift in mindset about generosity. We are the wealthiest generation in history. North America accounts for only about 5% of the world’s adult population, yet holds more than 27% of its wealth. Yet, according to Giving USA Foundation, donor participation among small givers has dropped by nearly 9% in recent years.
Barna research tells us younger generations love to serve but often hesitate to give financially.
But here’s the challenge Jesus gave:
The Bible talks more about money than almost any other topic—over 2,000 verses! Why? Because generosity reveals the heart.
At Dreamer’s Church, we believe generosity isn’t just about meeting budgets, it’s about building legacy. Imagine this: If 100 people in Austin walked into their church and all tithed 10% of their income, instead of only 3 out of 100 (the national average), the churches of Austin could transform our city. At Dreamer's Church, we would definitely be able to do some bigger things like:
THE BIBLICAL ROOTS OF GIVING
People often ask, "Is giving something I have to do?" The Bible teaches that giving is something we get to do. We're only stewarding what God has given us. From the Old Testament to Jesus’ teachings, giving has always been a central act of worship for everyone:
God connects giving to gratitude and joy:
Every act of giving is a declaration that God is faithful, that His Kingdom matters, and that our story is part of something eternal.
STRETCHING TOWARDS WHAT'S NEXT
So what does “Stretch Out” look like for Dreamer’s Church this year?
We’re believing for:
These aren’t dreams of luxury, they’re dreams of legacy. Every goal represents people who will encounter Jesus, families who will be restored, and generations who will be transformed.
LIVING WITH KINGDOM ANTICIPATION
Living with legacy means living with Kingdom anticipation, a confident awareness that God is moving today. He’s working in your life right now. The promises of God aren’t distant; they’re developing.
So take a step today. Don’t hold back. Stretch out your tent. Strengthen your stakes. Live with a faith that builds for generations. God doesn’t develop us in comfort; He develops us in commitment.
If you’re looking for a church in Austin that’s passionate about purpose, people, and the presence of God, come join us this Sunday at Dreamer’s Church. Bring a friend who needs hope. Come ready to stretch your faith.

Mother Teresa once told a discouraged volunteer in Calcutta, “You are not called to be successful, you are called to be faithful.”
That’s legacy. Faithfulness today builds the foundation for what God wants to do tomorrow.
At Dreamer’s Church, we see legacy lived out in so many ways:
- Through the lives changed every Sunday as people come to know God.
- Through community forming in small groups and ministries.
- Through DreamKids, Youth, and Dreamer’s Bible College, raising up future leaders.
- Through citywide outreach and our growing Spanish community.
- Through our vision to one day build a permanent facility that will house our church, Bible college, school, and local outreaches.
This is what it means to stretch out, to live not just for comfort, but for Kingdom contribution.

At Dreamer's Church, we would definitely be able to do some bigger things like:
- We could fund more outreach programs year-round.
- We could fully staff Dreamer’s Bible College and our future School of Worship.
- We could purchase a permanent home for Dreamer’s Church, a place where more lives are changed for generations to come.
- The Levitical Tithe supported those who ministered before God (Numbers 18:21).
- The Festival Tithe funded joyful gatherings of worship (Deuteronomy 14:22–27).
- The Charity Tithe cared for widows, orphans, and the poor (Deuteronomy 14:28–29).
“You should tithe, yes—but do not neglect the more important things like justice, mercy, and faith.”
God connects giving to gratitude and joy:
“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” — Proverbs 11:25
- When people are moved by God’s heart, they give.
- When they believe in a vision, they give.
- When they desire to see lives changed, they give.
- Generosity isn’t just a transaction—it’s transformation.
Every act of giving is a declaration that God is faithful, that His Kingdom matters, and that our story is part of something eternal.
